    Terrance Barkan

    Executive Director at The Graphene Council
    As the Executive Director of The Graphene Council, Mr. Barkan works with industry owners and leaders, connecting suppliers and end-users for successful commercial applications.

    For more than 30 years, Mr. Barkan has worked on a global basis in trade and professional societies including the science, technology, healthcare, security, IT and engineering sectors.

    Since founding The Graphene Council in 2013, Mr. Barkan has developed a deep understanding of graphene and related materials, in particular as relates to issues of commercialization, standards, testing and validation.

    Kjirstin Breure

    Chief Operating Officer
    Ms. Breure has a ten year background in emerging technologies and five in portfolio management. She has been Director of Operations for Frontline Crossings, Investor Relations with Omada Technologies and is both a director and COO for Macht10. Her interest in technology and passion for problem solving has led her to roles in operations primarily with tech start-ups.

    Ms. Breure graduated Magna cum Laude from Arizona State University and is currently pursuing a Masters in Materials Science and Engineering with a specialization in nanomechanics.

    Chris Sorensen

    Technical Team Lead
    Christopher M. Sorensen is the Cortelyou-Rust University Distinguished Professor and a University Distinguished Teaching Scholar in the Departments of Physics and Chemistry at Kansas State University. He received a BS in physics in 1969, was drafted and served in Vietnam in military intelligence 1970 -71, and earned a PhD in physics from the University of Colorado in 1977. In 2008 he was named a Norlin Distinguished alumnus of CU. He is a condensed matter experimentalist and an expert in particulate light scattering. He has published over 300 journal paper and is involved in 10 patents. He is the lead inventor for a process to make high-quality, economical graphene. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Association for Aerosol Research (AAAR). He is a past president of the AAAR and a recipient of its Sinclair Award and Outstanding Publication Award. In 2007 he was named the CASE/Carnegie Foundation United States Professor of the year for doctoral universities.

    Ranjith Divigalpitiya

    Chief Scientific Officer
    Dr. Divigalpitiya is an Adjunct Research Professor in the department of chemistry at Western University, Canada. He received his B.Sc. degree in physics from the University of Sri Jayawardanapura, Sri Lanka, and his Master of Science and PhD degrees in solid sate physics from Simon Fraser University, Canada.

    He was a Senior Specialist/Physicist at 3M Canada for more than 27+ years, where he invented 3M’s graphene-like carbon coatings and contributed to 190 invention submissions and 20 granted US patents. He has authored more than 33 peer-reviewed papers, within his areas of research including digital x-ray imaging, electrically conducting adhesives, air and water purification, battery materials, and nano scale coatings.
