Louis WatumGeneral Manager, Kipushi Corporation SALouis Watum joined Ivanhoe Mines in December 2014 as Managing Director of the company’s operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Mr. Watum now leads responsibilities for Ivanhoe Mines’ mine development activities underway at the Kipushi zinc-copper-silver mine in the DRC.
Prior to joining Ivanhoe Mines, Mr. Watum spent eight years assuming progressively senior responsibilities in the DRC’s mining sector. Between 2010 and 2014, he successfully led the development and commissioning of Randgold’s Kibali Project, which followed his work on the launch of Moto Gold Mines’ Moto Project from 2006 to 2009. Mr. Watum previously was the Operations Manager at the Yatela Gold Mine in Mali from 2001 to 2005.

His team looks at the impact on raw materials due to the rapid development of advanced battery technologies. He has co-written articles on nickel in EV’s, and a cobalt and lithium paper. Prior to McKinsey, Ken was the global head of metals and mining research for Bloomberg Intelligence Prior to Bloomberg Mr. Hoffman was a head of equity research, analyst, and portfolio manager in the commodity and industrial growth area.
Cassandra LeeGlobal Director Pyrometallurgy at HatchCassandra is Hatch’s Global Director of Pyrometallurgy, leading a team of 80+ people focused on high-temperature processing of metals. She is a Hatch Associate with extensive experience in process engineering and study management for metallurgical projects with a focus on roasting of ilmenites, metallurgical concentrates, and whole ores, chlorination and pyrohydrolysis, and associated fluidized bed equipment designs. She has been a key team member for commissioning, troubleshooting, and modification of a number of fluidized bed systems for improved operations and capacity expansion.
