Sean Samson
President, CEO & Director of EV NickelMr.Samson is a mining executive with more than 20 years of management and financial experience. He was most recently VP & Head of Corporate Development at FNI Mining for four years, including a period of six month as interim COO, responsible for safety, mine development and operations at a 250-person underground mine near Sudbury, Ontario. In 2012, he won the Canadian Young Mining Leader award from the CIM. Prior to FNI, he was VP Commercial Development at Kinross Gold Corporation for five years where he had diverse, multi-functional responsibilities including: supply chain, energy, merger integration, enterprise risk and capital approvals, leading a team of more than 300 people across eight countries. Before Kinross he was a management consultant at Bain & Company and traded for investment banks in New York and Europe. Sean received his A.B. from Harvard University, and MBA from Cambridge and has completed his Surface Miner Common Core in Ontario. He is a past elected PDAC board member and a Cleantech advisor at MaRS, a Toronto-based Innovation Centre. -
George Ogilvie, P.Eng
President, Chief Executive Officer and DirectorGeorge Ogilvie, has over 32 years of management, operating and technical experience in the mining industry. Mr. Ogilvie was until most recently the President & CEO of Battle North, a position he was appointed to, in 2016 whilst the company was under financial insolvency & restructuring proceedings. During his 5 year tenure at Battle North, Mr. Ogilvie and his team successfully completed a turnaround of the company resulting in an increase in the resource base from 400 k ounces Au to approximately 1.3 million oz Au, completion of a positive bulk mining reconciliation program resulting in de-risking of the project, delivery of a preliminary economic assessment and follow on feasibility study in relation to the project with a post-tax IRR of 50% and completion debt and equity financing of over C$100m associated with project construction. Battle North was acquired by Evolution Mining Limited in May 2021 at a 45% premium to the prevailing spot price. Prior to this, Mr. Ogilvie was the CEO of Kirkland Lake Gold Inc. where he and his team implemented a turnaround strategy which included, amongst other items, improving operations at the Macassa Mine and the acquisition of St. Andrew Goldfields, resulting in significant returns for shareholders. Previously, Mr. Ogilvie was the CEO of Rambler Metals and Mining PLC, where he and his team guided the evolution of the company from grassroots exploration to a profitable junior producer. Mr. Ogilvie began his mining career in 1989 with AngloGold in South Africa and he subsequently held other roles at the Ruttan Mine in Northern Manitoba for HudBay Minerals Inc., the McCreedy West Mine and also as Area Manager for Dynatec Corporation. Currently, Mr. Ogilvie also serves on the board of Rupert Resources Ltd.
Mr. Ogilvie received his B.Sc. (Hons.) in Mining and Petroleum Engineering from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland. He is a Professional Engineer and also holds his Mine Managers Certificate (South Africa). -
Donald Moore
CEO & Director of Playfair MiningMr. Moore’s connection with the mining industry began over thirty years ago while working summers in the Dickinson Mine (Goldcorp) in Red Lake, Ontario, during high school and university. Following graduation from University of Waterloo, Mr. Moore joined the Mining brokerage firm Doherty Roadhouse & McQuaig in 1968, where the foundation of his experience in the Mining investment industry evolved. In 1976 he accepted the challenge of reviving the economy of the mining town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario, where in his role of Director of Economic Development, he conceptualized, raised funds for and had implemented a number of Geo-scientific programs that became the standard for Ontario. In 1981 he continued to diversify his knowledge and involvement in the mining industry as Director and Executive Vice President of International Corona in Vancouver, B.C., where he worked with David Bell in the early stages of the development of Ontario’s prolific Hemlo gold deposits. Donald has been actively involved in all aspects of the mineral exploration industry since the early 1980’s. -
Brandon Macdonald
CEO and Director at Fireweed ZincMr. Macdonald is a professional geologist with a diverse experience base including exploration geology worldwide and investment banking. In recent years he has focused his efforts in exploration and development as a principal of and consultant to various junior mining companies. In the past he was in the City of London where he worked in structuring financings and risk management at Macquarie Bank. In 2007 Mr. Macdonald graduated with an MBA (with Distinction) from Oxford. He completed his B.Sc. in Geology from UBC in 2000. Mr. Macdonald has a long history of mining exploration work in Yukon, including zinc projects, and originally hails from Ross River, near the Macmillan Pass Project site. He is a Professional Geologist registered with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC). -
