John McConnellPresident and CEO of Victoria Gold CorpJohn has more than 35 years of mining experience, mostly spent in Canada's northern territories. Previously, he was President and CEO of Western Keltic Mines until it was acquired by Sherwood Copper. During his career he was Vice President, Northwest Territories Projects for De Beers Canada where he was primarily responsible for the permitting and development of the Snap Lake Diamond Mine. His experience also includes 12 years with Breakwater Resources Ltd / Nanisivik Mines Ltd in operations at the Nanisivik Zinc and Lead Mine on the northern tip of Baffin Island, and he spent six years with Strathcona Mineral Services Ltd. where his work included engineering, feasibility studies and project development. John is a graduate of the Colorado School of Mines, with a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering. He is also a Director of public companies; Hudson Resources Inc., Abacus Mining & Exploration Corp. A strong advocate for the mining industry, he is also a director of industry organizations; Klondike Placer Miners' Association (KPMA), and the Mining Association of Canada (MAC).
Michael Allan McCraeKitco NewsMichael McCrae is leading Kitco's coverage of the mining sector. McCrae, who has both an MBA and CMA, knows how to build digital media properties. He was co-founder and publisher of MINING.com, an award-winning news site. Before coming to media, McCrae worked in IT and banking.
Minister Ranj PillaiRanj Pillai is the MLA for Porter Creek South in the Yukon. He was first elected to the Yukon Legislative Assembly in 2016.
He is currently the Minister of Economic Development, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Minister responsible for Yukon Housing Corporation, Minister responsible for Yukon Liquor Corporation and Minister responsible for Yukon Lottery Commission.
During his time in office, Pillai has worked hard to advance a strong and diverse Yukon economy, focusing on building an ecosystem to support entrepreneurs across all sectors. Pillai was recognized for this work as the recipient of the North Startup Canada 2019 Regional Award for Entrepreneur Promotion. Since 2016, Yukon has been leading the country with the lowest unemployment rate, strong GDP growth and impressive investments in building construction.
He was previously the executive director of the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations Government, has held senior roles with Northern Vision Development and Yukon University, and is a former member of the Governor General’s Leadership Conference and Banff Forum. He has also held previous roles with numerous First Nation development corporations and junior mining companies.
Brian MayChief Geoscientist at Triumph Gold Corp.Brian May is a professional geologist with over 15 years of mineral exploration, mining project development, mining project evaluation, advanced geological modeling, technical writing, and production geology experience throughout B.C., Nevada, Arizona, and California. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Earth Sciences from Simon Fraser University. Brian is currently the Chief Geoscientist for Triumph Gold and held previous positions with Elko Mining Group. Western Mesquite Mines, Nicola Mining, and New Gold Inc. Brian has been a registered professional engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia since 2013.
Kevin WestonCEO of Whitehorse Gold CropKevin is a mining engineer with more than 30 years of mine building and operations experience in Canada and abroad. Some of his prior roles include COO/GM at Breakwater Resources, Jaguar Mining, JDS Silver, Farallon, Capstone (Sherwood). He is a Proven Safety/Environmental Leader and Community Relations Builder.
